As I sit at my desk creating this post I’m looking outside at our latest snow storm and temps in the single digits. Don’t get me wrong, I love living in a winter wonderland, but sometimes, just sometimes a girl needs to thaw out a little. So I decided to share with you David and Caroline’s family photos from a beautiful late summer day last season!
David and Caroline wrote to me about scheduling family photos before their family’s annual summer trip to Summit County. Typically, more of my family photos happen on winter break but I was excited at the opportunity to capture some of Summit’s summer beauty with this extended family who loves the area so much. We had great fun roaming around some of my favorite spots in Frisco and creating oodles of portrait combinations for them. They even ordered a beautiful family album as a keepsake for the year! (Such a great idea!) I like to photograph at the end of the day so that my clients get a variety of “moods” from the photos. From bright and colorful full sun to that warm gold as the sun sets, to all the beautiful and subtle tones of the sky after the sun dips below the mountains and the horizon.
If you’re interested in family photos during your next vacation to these amazing Colorado rockies, give me a shout!
Donna and Eric's Beaver Creek Wedding
Donna and Eric are some of the nicest people I’ve met. They decided to put together a summer mountain wedding in Beaver Creek and got lucky with an open slot at the super popular Beaver Creek Chapel sooner than they expected. Thankfully, I was available because I wouldn’t have wanted to miss out on documenting something so special for them!
Donna’s daughters stood up beside her and Eric making the ceremony extra special for the couple. After the ceremony we celebrated with photos with all their guests and then a small session with just Donna and Eric around the chapel grounds as the sun tucked down behind the mountains.
When we wrapped the photos after the sun went down we headed down the hill to the Mirabelle where Donna and Eric hosted a super yummy dinner for all their guests. The Mirabelle had the porch reserved and decorated for them and a perfectly sized private room for everyone to enjoy their night. Check out their photos below and leave them some love in the comments!
Sierra and Nick's Breckenridge Mountain Elopement
I love weddings like Sierra and Nicks. Totally non traditional and done completely their own way. The two of them love the mountains around Breckenridge and decided to elope with their closest family down a hiking trail in a secluded, private grove of trees.
Sierra and her dad picked me up at the trail head and we headed up in their 4x4 a few miles back into the woods on a Jeep trail. When we reached the end of the road everyone hiked a short ways to a beautiful spot. It was midday and with the sun high in the sky and filtering through the leaves and pine needles created a magical effect.
After a short and sweet self solemnizing ceremony everyone was elated. While Sierra and Nick sent their family ahead, we hung back and took some photos to celebrate. I’d never been in this area of Breck before and I loved discovering hidden groves and beautiful alpine streams filled with snow melt with them as we walked back to where we left the cars. On the way back, the woods opened up into a beautiful meadow filled with summer wildflowers. It couldn’t have been a prettier spot!
